Monday: Students will work to finish their Ink wash skull paintings. Tuesday: Demonstrate removal of stretched canvas from mounting board and procedure for mounting to pre-cut black mat board for turning in.
week of september 2nd-28th
Wednesday: Students will begin Skull-A Day unit by being introduced to the project and beginning their first skull assignment, The Sugar Skull. Using markers and colored pencils to embellish their selected skull. Tuesday: Students will be stretching watercolor paper today to prep for their first Drawing/painting assignment. Continue working on techniques to creatively embellish sugar skull design. Wednesday: Demonstrate techniques for cropping close-ups of fruits or vegetables on the computer. Students select and crop choice of subject for Water Soluble oil Pastel assignment. Students begin drawing grid lightly on their stretched watercolor paper to begin drawing tomorrow. Thursday: Students finish crop on computer for reference from Close-Ups folder. Students begin drawing composition into their 8x10 inch grid based on their photo reference. Friday: Students will be instructed on their first "Noticeables" blog assignment. Demonstration of techniques of use of Water Soluble Oil Pastels. Stressing textural application as well as color mixing and blending with water and a brush. Students continue work on drawing subject onto paper, begin techniques of blending colors and using brushed techniques for adding color blends.
Week of October 13th Through October 31st
Monday: Today you will continue working on the Watercolor Leaves painting. I will be handing out the rubric today. Tuesday/Wednesday: Students will work to try to complete the painting, ready to turn in at the end of the period on Wednesday. Thursday/Friday: I will be introducing the Birch trees watercolor project today. Students will be stretching their paper to prep for this assignment. Students may need some time to finish up Leaves painting today. Friday: Students will begin looking for references of Birch Trees on the computer to use for their paintings. Sketchbook assignment #2 will be brought in and graded TODAY.
week of october 6th
Monday thru Friday: Students will use the week to complete the 3 projects currently running. 1. Finish Water Soluble Oil Pastel Veggies. Assess and turn in. 2. Work to complete Noodle Skull. 3. Work on "Mix-Tape" Journal assignment.
Week of September 22nd
Monday: We will be finishing the graphite transfer process for the fruits and veggies assignment. I will also be demonstrating the process for beginning the application of water soluble oil pastels using texture and blends. Demonstration on using water and brush to blend pastels. Tuesday / Wednesday: Students continue process of layering and blending oil pastels to accurately develop representations from their photo references. Wednesday: Handout and discuss Sketchbook assignments, focusing on "Interpretive" nature of the assignments. Students will continue using techniques to paint their still life Fruits and Veggies.
week of October 21st
Monday Thru Friday: Students continue working on their Watercolor Birch Trees painting. Developing interesting techniques in background negative space areas based on experimental watercolor techniques completed on the Watercolor Exercise. Students who have finished the backgrounds will begin techniques to accurately represent Birch Tree textures and color.
